The next morning, the sound of my ringing phone woke me up from my sleep. I stretched my hand to the side table to retrieve the phone but the call had already ended.

Just as I was about to check to see who the caller was, I got a text that caught my attention. [ I have confidential information about your son’s kidnapping. But you have to pay twenty million dollars for the information.]

My heart skipped a bit as I stared at the screen. I hoped the person was actually legit and not a fraud. I quickly responded to them back.
