Carly and Nathan turn around slowly, dread written all over their once smug faces. "D–da–dad," Carly stutters.

The rest of us give way as Mr. Daniels walks towards her. I wonder if he heard all that she said, and I really hope he did. I see mom, dad, Mr. Trainor and Principal Foreman come up from the stairs. They were not here which gave Carly the chance to get close to my invention.
