Chapter 160. Security
Love’s POV
I was up before dawn, long before the city even thought of stirring. The sky outside my window was still a deep, bruised blue, the kind that felt heavy with unspoken things. Sleep had abandoned me hours ago, my mind looping endlessly—Ellis, the kids, the brunch later, the things left unsaid and the ones I was terrified to say out loud. My body needed movement. I needed to run before my thoughts consumed me whole.
I pulled on my training clothes quietly, tying my hair up as I padded down the hallway toward Luis’s room. I knocked once, firm but familiar.
“Two seconds!” he called from inside.
I heard shuffling, a muffled curse, then the door opened to reveal him shirtless, hair messy, eyes still half-asleep but already sharp. I smirked and leaned slightly to peek past him before he could block my view.
