I entered the tent, and for a brief moment, I forgot where I was.
From the outside, it looked like nothing more than a reinforced medical shelter—canvas stretched taut over metal frames, its surface splattered with mud and rain. But inside, it opened up into something far larger, almost cavernous, as though space itself had been folded and expanded to accommodate the chaos within. Rows of cots filled the interior, some pushed so close together that barely an arm’s length separated them. The air was thick with the scent of antiseptic, blood, sweat, and wet earth, all mingling into a sharp, metallic tang that clung to the back of my throat.
