Elizabeth’s POV
Today felt heavy from the moment I woke up, one of those Sundays where the world itself seemed to sigh under the weight of thick, unmoving clouds. The sky outside my windows was a dull gray, swollen with rain that never quite fell, and the chill in the air clung to everything it touched. Even inside my apartment, the cold seeped in, curling around my bones in a way that made me grateful for the oversized fleece wrapped tightly around me.
I was curled up on the couch, knees tucked to my chest, the soft fabric pulled up to my chin as I half-watched a movie and half-stared into nothing. Acrimony played on the screen, its dramatic soundtrack filling the room, but my attention drifted in and out. A bowl of popcorn rested on my lap, and I absentmindedly tossed kernels into my mouth, barely tasting them.
