Apphia’s POV

I find a hallway and take a deep breath. Why did that woman touch Nicholas like that? They seemed so close, and why does it hurt? Is it true that he found someone and Lily lied to me?

I chuckle humorlessly. I was so stupid to feel special; to think he liked me.

“Hello, there,” a deep, smooth voice says. Turning my head to the side, my gaze meets a man. I pause for a moment to catch my breath. He is tall, and handsome, with ivory skin and a chiseled face. His thick brown hair is tied neatly in a bun. He wears an elegant white suit.

“Hi,” my voice is low. The man’s gaze is intensely peering at me, and I feel a shiver down my spine. He takes a step toward me and extends his hand.
