Chapter 392. I Was Waiting for You
Apphia’s POV
They take me to the castle’s north side, and the further we walk, the quieter the corridors become. The usual warmth of the castle—the laughter, the footsteps of servants, the distant hum of conversations—fades into a hush that makes my heartbeat sound louder in my ears. The marble beneath my feet is cool, smooth, immaculate. Lily walks ahead of me with an almost bouncing step, clearly excited, while I trail behind, trying to steady my breathing.
Lily stops in front of a white door so pristine it almost gleams under the lights. She turns the handle and pushes it open.
The room inside is sterile and bright, washed entirely in white. White walls, white ceiling, white curtains fluttering faintly from an unseen vent. In the center sits a large table draped with a crisp white tablecloth, its edges falling perfectly even on all sides.
