Chapter 43. Negotiation
Eve's tongue wasn't as bitter as it had been a few hours ago. So she can finish her lunch without worrying about her mother getting angry. Maybe it's because Eve has seen that Mrs Daphne is doing well after being treated, although she doesn't know her condition. But seeing Mrs. Daphne's peaceful face asleep relieved Eve's heart.
Eve tidied up the lunch box and slid it back into the container. Gery and Mrs Daphne were still asleep until Eve returned from outside to buy a cold drink.
Isn't Gery sore from sleeping in that position? Eve thought as she glanced at Gery's closed eyelids. Should she wake her up so that her neck doesn't feel stiff? But what if it also wakes up Mrs. Daphne?
Eve shook her head quickly with her silly idea just now. Just let them sleep. Her boss must be tired, too, after taking care of Mrs Daphne, who was lying weak in the hospital.
