Chapter 44. Acting Out Each Other
Not long after Gery woke up, Mrs. Daphne woke up t. Eve's heart was even more relieved when she saw Mrs. Daphne's smiling face when she saw her coming. Mrs. Daphne's condition had indeed improved.
"I'm so glad to see you, Eve. Gosh, why didn't you wake me up when you came?" said Mrs. Daphne with a big smile.
"I didn't want to wake you, who was fast asleep, Mistress. You need your rest anyway," said Eve. "So do with you, Mr. Gery. Your stomach needs to be filled, not left empty."
"Have you eaten, Eve?" Gery asked back.
They had agreed not to antagonize each other in front of Mrs. Daphne. But still, Eve was a little surprised by the drastic change in Gery's attitude.
"Already, Sir, earlier when you both were still asleep," Eve replied, slightly stuttering.
"Why didn't you wait for me, or at least wake me up when you came," Gery protested, making Eve laugh awkwardly.
