Chapter 17. The Morning After

I woke up to the breathtaking sight of Jacob’s face. His arm enveloped my waist, pulling me in close, our naked bodies entwined beneath the cozy blanket. The sensation of our skin against each other was pure bliss.

In the serenity of his slumber, Jacob appeared even more captivating, his features softened and peaceful. It was a view I wished I could wake up to every morning, but the reality was far from that. He and I were so close, yet we were miles apart and perhaps would have to remain that forever.

My own troublesome thoughts began shrouding my mind right at the very fresh start of the morning.

Did we even have a forever? Was I raising my expectations too high?
