Chapter 21
The scene was so awkward that time seemed to be frozen right then and there. The four of them stayed like that for a while as Chris stared at the three and then glanced at the back of Alice’s head.
The only thought that he had at the moment was: Shit.
He shouldn’t have let her open the door. If he were the one instead, he would have driven them away without letting her see their faces. He was so close to making their relationship better. They had such a good time, and Alice was also happy.
Chris knew that he still didn’t have the answer to whether they might end up in a relationship again, but now that he had taken a step toward her, he couldn’t take it back. He desperately wanted to feel the warmth forever.
He couldn’t step back even if he wanted to.
