As we entered my apartment, I expressed my gratitude to Logan for preventing Adriel from coming up. His gesture provided me with a sense of peace that he had no idea about.
"I must confess it was a somewhat selfish gesture on my part," replied Logan, piquing my curiosity.
"I couldn't understand the reasoning behind it..."
Logan laughed at my words and promptly clarified:
"It wouldn't be convenient for me to allow Adriel to persuade you to break our agreement, something he would certainly attempt if he had the chance."
"Adriel has made it clear that he's not interested in getting involved with me in that way, Logan," I decided to clarify once and for all. "He made that very clear."
"Exactly," agreed Logan, "but he also doesn't want you to romantically involve yourself with someone else."
"He doesn't care, Logan."
"He does care. He just doesn't want to admit it."
