Chapter 117. The Ideal Woman
Adriel
I found myself trapped at a charity dinner, surrounded by fake smiles and superficial conversations, all in the name of fundraising for a noble cause. My mother and father stood beside me, along with the security guards, all portraying the perfect image of a happy family. But inside, my mind was elsewhere.
As I tried to maintain composure and live up to the expectations of my political campaign, my thoughts insisted on drifting to Manuela. It was as if she were engraved in every corner of my mind, making the night almost unbearable.
While I struggled to disguise what was going on in my mind, my father approached, interrupting my reverie with an excited voice.
“Adriel, I have someone very special I want to introduce you to,” he announced, his wide smile betraying his excitement.
I tried to mask my discontent, forcing a polite smile. But deep down, all I wanted was to escape and be with Manuela.
“f course, father,” I agreed.
