In the face of her challenge, Adriel asked with evident surprise in his voice:
"Do you doubt me?"
Yes, I doubted, and I couldn't stay silent about it. I couldn't simply accept his supposed gratitude for my intervention the previous night. Not only because he had argued with me and stormed out of the Ricci mansion in a fit of anger, the tires screeching loudly on the gravel. My disbelief didn't just stem from that, but also because, just an hour ago, he had been unpleasantly confronting both me and Logan at the restaurant.
"You need to explain to me better what you mean by gratitude for my help because you definitely didn't seem grateful just an hour ago."
I looked at Adriel with a mix of skepticism and indignation. How could he expect me to believe in his gratitude after all the chaos that had unfolded?
