Chapter 91. Just Stay
Ezra’s POV
It was a complete blur of a ride to the hospital.
I didn’t say much. Layla sat beside me, holding my hand the entire time. I could feel her fingers wrapped tightly around mine, and I could feel how cold her skin was. Or maybe it was mine? I couldn’t tell.
All I knew was the agony on my side seemed to burn with every bump on the road, but my eyes were entirely fixed on her, not on my pain.
She looked worried. No, scared.
Finally, the car halted and the door was pulled open almost immediately. Medical personnel rushed to our side. Layla tried to let go of my hand, but I wasn’t releasing her. Not yet.
They moved me onto a stretcher, and Layla followed after me in silence, never leaving my side. Like she was on autopilot, focusing solely on staying close to me.
