Chapter 96. She Had Taken Things Too Far
Layla’s POV
A few days later, Ezra and I were already back to work, while I thought he had healed much too quickly, with his slightly slower-than-usual pace being evident. I could tell that he was becoming more and more irritated with that forced rest. But Ezra hardly criticized it. Maybe he was aware of the consequences if he did.
After all that had transpired, I felt relieved when I saw him walk through those office doors, strong and calm as ever, he had opted for a sharply cut look, but only a few might know what he had gone through. He had walked through stabbing pain to get to this place, to take over the affairs of everything.
He looked across the room, making eye contact with me. He gave me a small nod. No words, just the look that said “I’m here, I’m okay.” I nodded back to him. That was enough.
