Chapter 2
“I know I lied to you and shouldn't have, but can't you see? History is about to repeat itself!” He looked at Rina who quickly looked away.
Once again, Frederick took her away from his father's gaze and said to him, “History, or Karma?”
Although we did the same thing, Sophia here brought this upon herself. He shot at me, with a very disturbing look.
I walked closer and said, “I'm not the one who went outside our matrimonial home to have a mistress. And not just any other woman, but the person I called my best friend. So don't blame me for your inability to keep your raging hormones in check.”
I rolled my eyes at him after I was done talking and he got upset.
He tried to get a hold of me, but his father cut in and took me away.
“Can we please calm down, it's getting intense here.” He intended to ease both of us, however, Rina decided to join in.
The tone of her voice immediately irritated not only me, but my father-in-law and he ended up giving her a harsh warning.
“Didn't your parents ever tell you not to interfere in something that doesn't concern you? Let this be a warning. Don't you ever again, think of interfering with my family?” He said.
Rina immediately shut her mouth and observed like the stranger that she was.
She quietly glued her ass to the chair without making a single noise.
The gloomy look on her face got Frederick angry. He walked closer to console her and I felt utmost disgust seeing the man I love hug another woman passionately, right in front of me.
“Father, I believe it's high time I told you both the truth before the news escalate.” He broke the silence.
“I want you to know that Rina here is carrying my child, my first seed, and I am finally going to become a father and you, a grandfather." He exposed a startling truth to us.
I was depleted to the floor the moment I saw Frederick hold onto Rina like she was his prized possession. The news shattered me within.
Did I just lose my husband to someone else? I asked myself with my hand on my head.
My Father-in-law walked up to me and commanded, "Get up!”
I was so hurt by the news and I believed staying on the ground was what I deserved. After seeing my disapproval of his command, he angrily dragged me up and took me over to my room.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Can you please act as if nothing happened, trust me, I’ll handle Rina.” My Father-in-law made me a promise.
I paid no special attention to his words because all I could think of was the shocking news laid down by my very own husband. Indeed, Frederick had hurt me so badly.
My mind ran through this same issue, over and over again, to the point where I fainted out of exhaustion.
“Sophia! My child!” Frederick’s Father shouted.
Father carried me to the bed and called out to Frederick who ran in and was startled to see me in such a state.
“Father, what happened?” He responded with a question.
“Are you asking me that? Did you think that after the shocking news, your wife would be fine? Please call the doctor.” Father ordered.
Minutes later, Frederick walked in with the doctor and he examined me. After a while, I woke up and turned to the family and related to both Frederick and his dad.
“I’m going to be fine, there’s nothing to worry about,” I said.
Father thanked the doctor and asked Frederick to walk him to the door.
The second their footsteps faded away, he turned to Rina and said, “So tell me the truth! Who are you, and what do you want with my son?”
“I don't understand sir, I don't want anything. I do love your son.” Rina said with a depressed look on her face and became all teary-eyed.
She thought that playing the victim would guarantee a little sympathy from him, rather he pulled her forcefully and ordered the truth. “Now tell me the truth! Who are you and what do you want with my son? You better be careful to not lie to me.” Father strongly eyed her.
A hot-blooded feeling plunged out of her and she retaliated by dragging the old man off in a pissed-off demeanor. They ran their eyes on each other before she proceeded with her words.
“Okay, old man. I know playing the victim won't be of any effect on you. It's best if I tell the truth.” Rina said and sat on the chair like she was the owner of the house.
She continued, “How about I tell you a story? It's about a woman who was beautiful, tall, and had dreams to achieve. But unfortunately, she fell in love with her best friend's husband who in turn fell in love with her. Later on, it developed into an affair and when his wife found out, it caused controversies between them.”
“The woman was thrown out like a criminal by the same man whom she would have done anything for. Her name was Rosie Hill, and I am her daughter, Rihanna Hill.”
She glared evilly at Father and He froze immediately.
“Wait, are you my daughter?” He asked.
Rina threw a disgusting glance at him and opposed, “Eww! Of course not, thank God.”
“Then why are you here? What do you want?” He asked her.
Rina got up from the chair and gave a sly smile.
She answered, “So, you want to know why I am here? I’ll tell you.”
Seeing the odd look on his face, she continued talking, “I am here to make sure you pay for everything you did. Because of you, my mother lived a life of pain and anguish. She also never loved my father because she was traumatized. He had to beg each day for her love. Now you tell me, is this not enough reason to make sure your family pays for it?”
She stopped talking as she saw Father put his hand on his chest.
He inhaled and said, “Listen to me, whatever happened is not their fault. You can hate me, but please stay away from my family.”
He pleaded, but she laughed in return.
“Aww! Do you think I'll ever be able to forgive you and your family for the pain I have been through? Now read my lips, I swore to make you and your family pay and beg for mercy and I am not going back on my words.
Rina walked further and halted. Heeding to Frederick's footsteps swiftly approaching the door, she returned her eyes to Father and said, “Let the game begin!”
