Chapter 2

Zea's POV

Controlled by my desperation, I bit the hand of the person behind me, who was immediately withdrawn.

"You beast," a familiar voice hissed and I immediately turned to the attacker.

To my surprise, I saw Rider shaking his hand in pain and grimacing.

"Holy shit, does it always hurt so much?" he whined. He didn't need to know that my bites were poison in every werewolf's body.

“Now don’t be such a wimp! When I was your age I would have been happy to have such intimate contact with such a lovely woman."

Visibly disturbed, I looked at the speaker, who had placed the newspaper on his knees and was looking sternly at Rider.

I want a grandpa like that too.

"You- Ah man, I just wanted to annoy Zea a little, I didn't know that the beast was about to bite my hand- AH!" Rider flinched and clutched his right hand with his left hand.

"Damn, that feels like acid," he croaked, doubling over a little. I kind of felt sorry for him.

You've reached the lowest point of your existence if you have compassion for oversized dogs who want your blood.

Despite my protests, I dug out a water bottle and discreetly bit my hand, leaving an almost indiscernible film of blood covering my index finger.

Now you're hurting yourself for this idiot.

A drop of my blood in the water was enough and I handed it to the boy.

"What is that?" he asked me skeptically but took the bottle with his good hand. "Just water," I lied innocently and he nodded. He quickly downed the water.

Rider's pupils dilated and he groaned softly. I didn't even want to know what that moan was.

"That- Oh fuck, that feels so good, I- I have to go," he breathed and then fled through the park. And in the end, they were all the same. Sighing, I leaned back and closed my eyes.

“This youth of today,” I heard the man say before I gradually drifted off into a quiet sleep.

"Hey, Zea, wait a minute!" Rider's voice echoed through the entrance hall and I reluctantly turned to the black-haired man who was hastily moving towards me.

"Don't you have to go to Shanice or something?" I asked disinterestedly and just continued towards the room.

"Aren't we on the way there?" he said mischievously and I rolled my eyes. "Please do your stuff in private, I don't want to watch a sissy and a gothic snake licking me on my first day," I pleaded and unlocked the door to my new room.

"Rejected," he grinned. "Hey baby," he still grinned and wrapped his arms around Shanice, who immediately placed her purple-painted lips on the Riders.

Everyone had a boyfriend except me. Why do I always stay single?

Maybe because this relationship won't last forever anyway, not like you. You're the only one who's immortal, apart from Cole.

I didn't know whether I was immortal, but I certainly didn't want to risk my life by deliberately trying things out.

So I suppressed a gag and squeezed past the two of them, who slowly but surely seemed to merge into one person. Disgusting.

I took advantage of the time and put the few clothes I owned under my bed. There didn't seem to be anything else left to me. For tomorrow I decided to explore Devlin's city center and stroll through a few shops. By now it had become standard for me to take very few clothes with me when I moved from country to country. Once I arrived, I bought new ones and when I left, I donated my clothes to orphanages or homeless people.

Shanice and her boyfriend closed the door and staggered to the bed, making out. Please, Lord God, have mercy on me. What did I do to deserve such a sight?

"Hey, Zea." Rider's voice made me look up sullenly. "Are you sure there was only, well- water in that water today? I mean, well no- um- Viagra or something? If you want to get one over on me because I "I'm using this room for me and Nice a lot of the time, then you better say that now," he mumbled. I didn't expect this boy to be embarrassed.

In the past, I would have laughed at such statements, grinned victoriously, or simply been proud that I could seduce men with my blood so easily, but after so many years it was just annoying. I shook my blonde mane decisively and Rider nodded.

"Water?" Shanice asked ignorantly, leaning against Rider's muscular arm. "I wasn't feeling so well in the park and Zea happened to be there to take care of me," Rider lied and hugged his girlfriend.

I laughed briefly scornfully but left it at that. The two of them probably didn't value honesty that much.

“Now that you are my friend’s new roommate, I feel obligated to integrate you into this college. So what do you say, join Nice and me tomorrow at the craziest party you'll ever experience?"

As I finally put on my shoes and caught Shanice watching me out of the corner of my eye, I doubted that this was going to be the best party of my life.

For the party to be successful, I needed at least one person I trusted. Well, I just trusted Cole. Friends come and die, everyone except Cole. Nothing lasts forever, he still says, but our friendship will last forever. I thought.

"Don't you want to wear a slightly... looser dress?" Shanice asked sharply, throwing a coat over her black corset dress.

"Jealous because I don't look like a walking tomb?" I shot back without looking at her. Shanice huffed and turned her attention to her black lace-up boots.

Rolling my eyes, I pulled my dark red dress down to mid-thigh, grabbed a small clutch in which I stashed my money, keys, and cell phone, and sat on the bed to wait patiently for Shanice.
