Chapter 13
Lucy leaned against the low wall of Ryeon's house as she waited for him to open the door. She subtly touched the flowers displayed in the garden. She smiled when she saw a small daisy about to bloom and, for a brief moment, she felt like the little flower herself.
Unaware of everything, the girl didn't hear the front door being opened. She didn't even see when her friend walked past her, adjusting the old clothes he was wearing at the moment. Lucy only noticed Ryeon when she heard his voice.
"Come in," he said.
Glancing at him briefly, she nodded, holding onto the bag that contained the snacks and walking past him.
"My mom is baking a cake," Ryeon said.
"Oh, is she home?" Lucy asked.
Usually, Ryeon's mother, Park Roseanne, didn't stay home in the afternoons. She would leave early to work at a clothing store as a saleswoman and come back in the early evenings. Often, it was Ryeon who took care
