Chapter 49. Heart

Leila smiled discreetly – as she saw Hunter frown a bit when their eyes met. She chuckled silently – as she looked away.

“You and Hunter seem to be a bit… closer now, huh?” Myrtle tried to make it sound like she was striking a simple and friendly conversation – but she could sense playfulness in her tone of voice.

She bit her lower lip as she felt her cheeks burned in embarrassment.

Myrtle smiled at her genuinely. It was as if she knew what she was thinking about already. But Myrtle simply chuckled at that.

“Hunter… He had been through a lot already. and I knew that you have discovered some of it. I just hope that this time, he wouldn’t get hurt.” Myrtle stated seriously – before looking back at her.

She let out a deep sigh.

“He has always been my closest friend. A brother. And I am hoping for the best for him. And you, Leila, I could see that you love him truly. Hector and I were happy to know that you truly love and care for him.” Myrtle comment
