Chapter 26
Eliza, who was standing not far from Cassa, saw the woman sitting in the waiting room lost in thought. Cassa was still faithfully carrying Lukas, who was asleep.
Eliza smiled and approached her friend. She didn’t know what had brought Cassa back to the hospital where she worked.
“Hey, Cassa. What brings you here? Is Lukas okay?” Eliza asked as she sat down next to Cassa.
Cassa turned and smiled at her old friend. She was grateful to have Eliza, who patiently listened to all her complaints.
“Yes, he’s okay. But yesterday made me feel so guilty for exchanging Lukas with Dawson. It seems like Lukas can sense that I’m not his biological mother. I’m having a hard time dealing with it,” Cassa said, feeling weary.
“Why? What makes it difficult for you to handle Lukas?” Eliza asked, curious about what had really happened to her friend and the switched baby.
