Chapter 30. Whenever (1)
ISABEL
I opened my eyes to Mavis sitting beside me. “She’s awake,” Mavis said joyfully and Bennett rushed in with a smile. “Oh, dear.” She rubbed my legs slightly.
The last thing I could remember was slipping on the floor in Bennett’s guest room. I knew something had happened to me but I can’t remember what it was.
A man, wearing a long white coat, walked in nodding his head. “I told you she’d wake up,” he said. “But it’s a good thing you brought her in when you did. It was a pretty serious concussion.”
I looked at him, my mind still fuzzy from what had happened. “How long have I been unconscious?” I asked.
“For a few hours,” he said and I gasped. “But you’re going to be just fine. You’ll probably have a headache for a while, but that’s normal. Just make sure to take it easy and get plenty of rest.”
