Chapter 4
It was a long drive and she had fallen into a deep sleep. When Devi awoke from a long slumber she had fallen deep into, for most of the drive, and could not remember seeing anything on her way that would lead to her escape, she tried getting any word from her captors.
"What do you want from me? I don't have any money, I'm useless to you," She said. They completely ignored her as she tried getting them to talk but they wouldn't budge and in a seductive voice, she said, "My grandmother is in the hospital, I am poor, please," she continued speaking. Endeavoring to cajole one of them, hoping he'd feel for her enough to let her go but she was ignored until they got to a huge mansion. It was almost dark so they got her out of the van, pulled her as she tried withstanding and while walking her to the entrance of this mansion, the servants and others at the mansion kept staring at her.
Devi was in for a treat and just as she got to the door, they pushed her in and shut the doors behind her she made an effort to hit on it, but her effort was in vain. Just then, she heard a rather familiar voice that spoke out to her,
"Welcome to my humble abode Aurora". She turned to this person, and just as she was about to vent out her anger, he put his hand over her mouth and mumbled
"I'd prefer if you made these sounds somewhere else darling"
She pushed him away and said what she wanted anyway,
"How dare you? I was going to come, why would you pick me up like I'm some criminal? What did I do to you?" Did she ask?
"Darling, we had a deal, this was I making sure you didn't bail on it seeing as your grandmother is already receiving, well my side of the deal"
Devi was so furious but sat quietly thinking to herself,
"So it'd finally come to this?" She sobbed. "Don't cry darling, I am a wonderful host", Mr. X said comfortingly.
He signaled a maid who stood not too far from them and then instructed her to get the bath set for Devi's warm bath and something to wear when he was done, he then turned to Devi and said, "Darling, please follow her upstairs" Devi was about to leave when said,
"It's Devi, you should at least know my name," then she followed the maid upstairs.
He just became fond of her more. She was beautiful, she was aggressive when she needed to be and he won't get bored so easily, he thought. When Devi went upstairs, she realized there were amazingly shot pictures and drawn portraits of wolves all over the hallway and they were magnificent, she thought. She got into the room, the maid gave her a red transparent nightgown she would put on once she was done with her bath. "I can't put this on!", she exclaimed, but it wasn't up to her, was it?
The maid left and went back to her quarters, while Devi went on to take her bath. The bathroom was a masterpiece, it was beautiful inside, with the red lights, the soothing music, and of course the bathtub and it was something she hadn't seen forever. She took off her t-shirt and her pants and she got into the tub, feeling like she and the warm water were one and she stayed in it for a few minutes before actually starting her bath.
When she was done, she picked up a white cotton towel that was hung not too far from her and got herself dry, tied up, and walked into the room. Feeling very reluctant to put on the transparent nightwear, she had to or what choice did she have, he would have her anyway, so she put it on and went under the sheets, keeping herself warm.
Just as she got comfortable under them, she saw the cover of a book that got her intrigued, and that made her wake up and rushed to it. It was placed with glass around it, making it somewhat special, which capped her attention. It was titled, "Traits of an Alpha."
The cover was designed with brown paw prints and the front page of the book had lots of signatures like it had been handed down from different generations. She jumped back into bed with the book and It'd been a long she had done anything else asides from taking care of her grandmother or working extra jobs to earn extra money for the two of them and for their trip out of that horrible area.
Devi continued opening pages in the book, there was an inscription on the third page and it seemed like an unusual language which wasn't any of her concerns so she went on to the first chapter. Reading in her head,
"You are probably the next of a..." then someone seized the book from her hands.
"Didn't you learn to not touch that which doesn't concern you?" he asked.
"I, I, I didn't know you'd get mad, I...." She answered shakily.
"Forget it", he said. He put the book back in its place and walked slowly towards her but she was a little afraid, holding on to the sheets as she shifted to the side of the bed far from where he stood and where he'd be able to touch her and that made him chuckle,
"I don't bite Devi, and you intrigue me, I'll take my time with you", he smiled wider. That didn't wipe the uncertainty from her eyes, she was afraid. So he decided to make her feel comfortable first.
"Why don't we have dinner first?" He asked.
"You'd like that? Yeah?" She nodded in affirmation. He gave her a rob to cover up her rather too exposed nightwear and then led her downstairs. Dinner was served, although she was vegan, while he was a heavy meat lover, knowing why. So he asked the cook to get her something else, which didn't take too long and they had dinner together.
