He seemed to think for a moment after hearing my reason earlier, then put his hands together on the table.

“She submitted her resignation for personal reasons. And I believe you could be the right replacement to take her place, given your performance so far and also because of your courage to report Tony Franklin to me last week. Are there any problems?”

I nodded my head. “If that is the case, I am ready to fill the position.”

“Good. Now you two are back in your room. Tomorrow Valencia will give you instructions for your new assignment, Leah Mitchell.” He said this, then motioned for us to get out of his room. After bowing, we both left the room and closed the door to his room.

Once we were far enough from his room, Patricia immediately pulled me toward the emergency stairs with a terrified face.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, trying to get her hand off mine.

“I understand why he violently slammed the door in front of you last week.”
