42. Threesome With The Venmo Twins

As soon as I heard the door slam shut, I hurried to sit up, my heartbeat thudding in anxiety as I dialed Gracie's number.

“Finally! I've been so worried about you, honey. How are you?” Her voice sounded a bit throaty, like she had the flu or something, and I suddenly had the urge to run off and go be with her.

That was the easiest and safest thing in the world, running back to your comfort zone, or someone you see as home.

But that decision might come with a heavy price, and right now I needed to focus on that annual rodeo event Cain talked about.

If anything, that was my only shot at getting my life back together, a safer place to call home, and protecting the ones I love.
