Chapter 180

Roman's POV

I sat there, staring at the frozen frame on the monitor, my mind circling the same question over and over. Why? Why had Cassandra suddenly pulled out a mirror while arranging the files? And right after she set it down, the camera went white, completely blind. It wasn’t a coincidence. It couldn’t be.

“She did that on purpose,” Lauren’s voice came softly from beside me.

I turned to her slowly, still trying to process what I’d just seen. “She placed the mirror there on purpose?” I asked, my voice low, steady though beneath it, I could feel the irritation brewing.

“Yes.” Lauren nodded, her tone certain, calm, analytical — the same tone she always used when piecing things together. She leaned closer toward the computer, her fingers brushing across the keyboard with quiet precision. The soft clacking filled the silence as she reversed the footage back to the moment before Cassandra placed the mirror down.

“Look,” she said, pausing
