"Look, I messed up. Big time. I realize that now,” Ethan said, his voice shaky, almost trembling as if the words were scraping their way out of him. “If I knew this was how things were going to end, then I wouldn’t have even done this. I was just… really obsessed with Sophia.”

“Up to the point that you threw your wife out,” I said, raising a brow, reminding him of his own humiliation.

He blinked quickly, lowering his gaze. “I’m sorry. I actually am. My biggest wish right now would be to turn back the hands of time. To treat you better. To have a second chance with you. Because I know I’ve wronged you horribly, and I regret it now.”

The crack in his voice was obvious. It wasn’t just shaking — his whole expression was trembling, as if the weight of everything suddenly came crashing down and he had no str
