Elizabeth’s POV

I let out a small sigh that sounded just soft enough to pass as guilt or maybe something close to remorse. I wasn’t exactly the best at pretending, but I hoped it would come across the way I needed it to. Then I lifted my gaze slightly and said, “Ok, maybe I might have reacted too much, I’m sorry about that.” My voice wasn’t shaky or emotional, just calm… the way an apology should sound when you want people to stop looking at you a certain way.

While speaking, most of my attention went straight to Roman.
