While Valerian was deep in thought, Mrs. Ellis suddenly reached into her dress pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. She then handed it to him with a sigh.

“I was cleaning her room earlier today and found this,” she said. “A young man came by yesterday and asked me to give it to Noelle. I did, after you left.”

Valerian’s fingers tightened around the note as he listened.

“She acted different after that,” Mrs. Ellis continued. “Didn’t say much, but I could see it in her eyes. What was written in that letter... is the reason why she left.”

As Valerian unfolded the paper, he gritted his teeth in anger.

“Adrian. He came here earlier today as well looking for her. He was that... handsome actor. What was his last name again?” the old woman paused and thought for a while until she finally got it.

“Ah! Blackwood! Adrian Blackwood. Yes, that is the name.” She continued.
