Chapter 101. Done, Baby

Freya POV

Jade’s face went deathly pale, her skin losing all color in an instant, leaving her looking ghostly and shaken. Her voice came out trembling, high-pitched and desperate, cracking at the edges as she spoke.

“I’ve been working in this mall for the past fifteen years and the mall had a huge sale today because of me. Do you think they’d fire me just because you said so?”

I just smirked, a slow, cold curve of my lips, but didn’t respond. We’d see about that.

My fingers flew across the screen as I quickly texted Ryder. The reply came almost immediately, as if he had been waiting for me.

“Done, baby.”

My cheeks flushed red instantly, a hot wave of something warmer rushing through my body. God, this man. My heart skipped a hard beat, fluttering wildly in my chest as heat crawled up my neck and spread down to my belly.

Another reply came in.

“I saw everything that happened. Zoey sent me the video.”

My eyes widened in shoc
