I had dropped Freya off at Zoey’s place this morning and was now on my way to pick her up that afternoon. As I drove down the estate expressway, I spotted her and Zoey standing in the middle of the road, chatting away. She looked so happy — smiling, laughing, completely at ease. It warmed something deep in my chest, especially after the little fight we had recently. I loved seeing her like that.

Instead of interrupting immediately, I parked my Bentley a good distance away at the corner of the road. I’d let her enjoy her time with Zoey a little longer.
