Dean’s POV

2:00 PM

Luke finds me in the staging area, fixing my cuffs, watching the crowd through the trees. The place is packed already. A hundred chairs, maybe more.

"Count's right so far," he says. "Six of ours, spread out like we talked about. Reyes is by the exit, Marcus and Dale split the back two rows, rest are scattered through the middle."

"You sure that's enough?"

"It's what we've got."

"What if it's not enough?"

"Then we deal with it. Like we always do." He glances at me. "You good?"

"No."

"Yeah." He laughs, but he doesn't sound like he's joking. "Me neither."

He fixes my jacket without asking. "Your dad get anywhere with the money?"

"He won't tell me anything."

"Of course he won't."
