Chapter 63
One day, she was sitting at the desk in the mechanic’s workshop where her sister Iman worked, trying to arrange the accounts sheet while pretending to be busy until Iman closed the notebook she was looking at and extended her hands to raise Rima’s head so she could look at her and said:
“How long will you continue to rebel when anyone approaches you? I am fully prepared to go to that palace and smash this bastard’s head. I am not satisfied with what we did to him.”
“No, no, it’s my fault. I was the one who believed that he could love me for who I am. I forgot who I was, and I believed that he cared about me as a friend.”
Adham said, “You forgot who you are? Do you hear yourself if we tell us who you are, Rima? Do you know your value that that vile person did not see? That pig wrapped in money?”
Rima said, “My value! A girl from the shelter, seeking to work to become something she can never be. Girls from the shelters cannot become ladies of high society.”
