"I'm sorry about last night and this morning," she said again, her voice more composed. "I didn't mean to make things awkward."
"It's not your fault, you were sleeping." I said, turning to face her. She nodded, looking relieved.
There was a pause, and then she took a step closer to me. "Mihir, I know Your dad must have scolded you and compelled you not to get on with the divorce, I can understand that this isn't easy for you. It's not easy for me either. But I want you to know that I… I care about you. More than you might think, but please don't think that you are under any obligation to reciprocate the feelings."
Her words hung in the air between us, heavy with meaning. I felt a lump in my throat, unsure of how to respond. She was offering me her heart, and I didn't know if I was ready to accept it. Not when I was still grappling with my own feelings.
"I… I appreciate that, Tami," I said finally, my voice thick with emotion
