Chapter 67. Trust in God

Tiara POV

Never since I can remember have, I been so powerless. I could feel the anxiety rising and soon, if I didn’t pull myself together, I would have a panic attack. Mara realized the danger and came to my side.

“Tiara, calm down. Vincent will get through this. Trust in God!”

When she said His name, the same inner peace I felt in the chapel envelope me. That way my heart rate slowed down and after a few moments I was breathing normally.

But the images unfolding before me were horrifying. Come on God, please do something! I kept praying, having no sense of time.

I could only remember the voice of the doctor counting to five doing compressions on Vincent’s chest, then the paddles and the electric shock, but without bringing life back into his body.

I couldn’t stand this despair any longer.

“... Clear!” I heard the doctor’s tired voice again. One last shock, but to no avail. “Call it!” I heard him say in dismay.
