Chapter 46

“Good morning, Miss Layla,” one of the maids in the mansion said as she brought a meal to Layla.

“Breakfast in bed, that’s new,” she said to herself.

“Who ordered you to do it?” asked Layla.

“It was Mr. Jack Lockwood, ma’am,” the maid replied.

“That was very thoughtful,” she said, giving the lady a bright smile.

As she ate a knock was heard on the door.

“Hey, Jack,” Layla said as she saw Jack at her door.

“Hey Layla. How is the meal?” he asked.

“It is really good,” she said with a wide grin on her face.

“I would have loved to stay longer, but my parents want to check out the company, so I have to be there with them. So, I am going to take my leave now, friend,” he said as he walked out of the room.

“It is still very weird trying to pretend to be friends with the man who beat me and forced himself on me, but Samuel is his child, and I have to let him see his child at least before I ensure that he gets punished for the crimes
