Chapter 38. Bad Play

"Mom...."

Axel fell asleep with his body kneeling on the floor while his head and hands were resting on Blair's bed. The man flinched in surprise when he heard Blair's voice.

"Mom... it hurts..." Blair groaned in her sleep.

Axel immediately sat up straight. He checked on Blair. The girl's eyes were still tightly closed, but her lips kept mumbling, calling her mom.

Axel started to panic. He wanted so badly to pick Blair up and take her to the hospital right then and there. However, if Axel forced her to the hospital, Blair would be furious and even mount a violent rebellion.

Axel paced up and down Blair's room thinking about what to do.

Blair's moaning was getting more frequent, and the girl looked hurt. Axel approached. He hesitantly reached out to feel Blair's forehead.

"Her temperature is still high."
