Chapter 43. A Short Time Together

"What happened?" Axel was already standing in front of Blair.

The girl was still sitting alone on a park bench, her face downcast. Her hands hugged her chest. Blair shivered.

Axel saw the fragility and fear on the girl's face. Axel immediately took off his jacket and threw it over Blair's shoulders.

"You are okay?" Axel knelt in front of Blair and examined the girl.

"Can you take me away from here?" Blair's voice was low as she tried to hold back tears.

"Well, of course. Can you walk?"

Blair nodded weakly. Axel helped the girl, and they headed to the car in front of the park. They drove in silence and headed back to Axel's penthouse on the 96th floor in central Manhattan.

When they got to the penthouse, Blair remained silent. She didn't even look at Axel at all.

"Thank you for coming."

After saying thank you, the girl unsteadily walked towards her room.
