I was in my office attending to matters related to the pack when my Beta bursts into the office.

“Why did you enter my office like that?” I ask James, the Beta of my pack.

“Forgive me, Alpha, but we have a problem.”

“What is it?”

“The queen is at our border.”

“Who?” I ask, abruptly standing up from my chair and almost knocking it over. “The queen?” I ask, wide-eyed. I don’t want to believe Beta’s words, but he wouldn’t make a mistake. He knows the queen because he attended the king’s birthday.

“Yes, the queen. Should we let the king know she’s here? I think she left without informing him. He might be worried and looking for her,” James says.

“No,” I object quickly. I have a feeling if the queen was here, then I didn’t want the king to know.

“What do we do then?”
