Chapter 65. A Dead Jairus Means a Dead Husband

Away from the Kingdom, even though it would be under a different ruling, she wanted no part of it.

So whether she was married or not, it would not hinder her plans for a peaceful life anyway. Far away from here.

She eventually sighed and shrugged, "Well, it does not matter anyway."

"What do you mean?" The Emperor could not help but ask, of course, it mattered. His tone was concerned, almost hurt, but he hid it well. He turned and faced her because her response did not sit well with him.

"Exactly what I said. It does not matter..." Aakifahlynn had no intentions of elaborating. "So, given my situation, you clarified that the Emperor would not sell me and my parents out to Jairus... Is it safe to assume that we can come and go freely... with protection, of course?"

Aakifahlynn needed to be able to check on her business still. She'd made an investment and would want to see it through. It could provide her with that peaceful retirement she seeks.
