Chapter 36. Resolve

“What are you doing?” Mitch asks me.
“Let go of me,” I say in response as I continue to try to pull my hands away from his grip.
The priest is watching us in awe and shock while all the guests that Mitch invited are standing to their feet for a better view of what is happening. There are people who are even recording, and others are talking in low voices to each other.
“I need you to leave, young man,” my dad warns Chris when he has reached us. Chris places his hands in his pockets and wags his head slowly as if to say no.
“Fucking let go of me!” I say loudly as I yank my hands out of Mitch’s grip.
“Can we please take this outside? I don’t think the church is the right place for all of this,” the priest suggests, but no one listens to him.
“I’m so sorry, dad, but I can’t do this,” I apologize to my dad, and he sighs loudly while nodding slowly. He may go to prison and lose his company, but he would never be able to forgive himsel
