Chapter 18. Painful Reckoning
Linda’s POV
As the car came to a stop, my heart doubled its pace. This time, I was trying to calm my nerves not because of all the carp that was going on in my life. But because I was about to see Mitch again.
“Thank you,” I told the lady but decided to ask, “I don’t know your name, may I?”
She smiled warmly. “I’m Cristal, ma’am,” She replied.
“Nice to meet you, Cristal. I would be in there for I don’t know how long but you can wait up for me anywhere you’d like.”
She nodded, and I got out of the car, heading into the building that poured out an energy of heaviness. When I entered, I tried my best to not be the center of attention.
My heart was racing and my throat was dry as I walked up to the receptionist's desk. It was a dark-skinned guy that stood behind it. I waited for him to take notice of me but he did not, he seemed busy.
I cleared my throat. “Excuse me?” My voice was soft.
“Yes,” He replied
