Chapter 30. Illusions Shattered

Nina's Pov

The question still echoes in my ears, Emily's voice is hard and firm. My body shrinks seeing those soldiers around us. Fill stares at me, frightened, and I shoot him a cold glance. Fill must not open his mouth about our plans. I'm so close to being able to go back home, to Moon Shade. I miss the sea, our ceremonies, and my favorite spot in the archipelago.

"You knew Nina was under Blue Bay Pack's custody. What are you doing here on our lands? I had given you an order to take care and protect Moon Shade Pack, Fill," Emily warns with such bravery in her voice that Fill shudders beside me.

Emily's eyes come in my direction, and I straighten my posture even more, putting on my best mask of indifference for her. I know how much Emily hates to see me like this, so impartial, even when everything is crumbling around me.

"I'll only speak in the presence of Alpha David or King Benson Doorson himself," Fill s
