After Lieutenant Lee left, Cassandra walked over. “Emma, you okay?”

“It’s nothing. I just made it sound worse than it was.” Emma tugged her down to sit beside her, eyes darting toward Mara.

That woman was probably still puking her guts out somewhere.

“Thanks, Em,” Cassandra said sincerely, then paused, her tone turning worried. “But try not to mess with her again. I’m really afraid she’ll come after you.”

Deep down, she sighed. Mara was way too vicious. She was actually starting to regret letting Emma fight her battle.

A mischievous glint lit up in Emma’s eyes, and she smirked like she was up to no good. “Cass, give me your hand. I’ve got something for you.”

“What is it?”

Cassandra shot her a suspicious glance but slowly held out her hand. Emma reached into her pocket, feeling around like she was searching for something.

Then she moved her fist over Cassandra’s palm and plopped something down before quickly pulling her hand away.
