Chapter 139

The scenery around the Ashbourne Manor was stunning, and Lydia had totally settled in.

While eating, she couldn’t help but sigh, “I seriously love it here. Don’t even wanna leave.”

Gabriel paused mid-bite.

Sure, the house was big enough — having one more person didn’t make a difference space-wise. But he was used to just being with his wife and son. Having a long-term guest around still felt a bit off.

Even little Aiden glanced over at Lydia and asked in his soft baby voice, “Sister, don’t you have to go to work?”

Lydia was actually older than Lilah, but since she wasn’t married, she refused to be called “aunt.” She insisted on “sister” instead.

“I mean, it’s not that I don’t work, I just don’t need to work much,” Lydia replied with a breezy confidence. “My family’s rich, and we’ve got plenty of people doing stuff.”

Aiden looked half-confused, half-impressed.

He turned to his parents. “How come Mommy and Daddy are always so busy then?”
