Xerina’s POV
The darkness swallowed me whole, pressing down on my chest until I could barely breathe. It was as if the air itself conspired against me, suffocating any trace of hope I had left. My body was numb, and my mind—my mind was a battlefield of shattered memories, too broken to piece together.
Zane’s voice slithered through the silence, taunting me.
“Do you see it now, Xerina? Do you understand?”
I shook my head weakly, my throat too dry to respond. But he didn’t need my words. He knew what he was doing, tearing into the deepest corners of my soul.
