Xerina’s POV
It had been three full days.
My family was always around me. Their faces were familiar but in a strange, distant way, like looking at a faded photograph. I was meant to feel safe here. Meant to feel like I belonged. But I didn’t. Not really. Every moment was a battle against the void in my head, trying to claw back pieces of a life I couldn’t remember.
Chrissy was there too. Always close by. She’d tell me stories from when we were younger—funny things, ridiculous things. Stories that should’ve made me laugh, but I couldn’t. I tried. I wanted to remember. But it was like the memories were trapped behind a thick wall, just out of reach. And the harder I tried, the more elusive they became.
