I stared at the report Felix had handed over to me. It was sent by the rest of the werewolves, but it was written in codes so no one else would understand it.

“We are fine, Alpha. We got lost when we took a different route while trying to escape the elders. We will find you again, but we will be at your command anytime you need help.” That was what the message read.

There was relief in knowing they were still alive.

I handed the file back to Felix. “Now that we know they are safe, we can keep moving. We will contact them later about where to meet us.”

He nodded.

Suddenly, my heart skipped a beat, and I immediately knew something was wrong. The image of Daphne filled my mind, and I quickly rushed back to the house.

Daphne wasn’t there. I could feel it. Her scent lingered in the air, but it wasn’t strong enough. I shouldn’t have left her alone. This is my fault. If something happens to her, I won’t forgive myself.
