I shivered as his words echoed in my ears, and it felt as if every part of me froze.

Who was he? The Shadow Alpha?

I knew the Shadow Alpha was powerful, and whoever this stranger was, he was powerful too. I could feel it. But the Shadow Alpha was supposed to be a rogue.

Could they be the same person?

I studied his face carefully, searching for something familiar, but I couldn’t recognize him. His expression gave nothing away.

I shook my head, pushing the thought aside. I shouldn’t focus on that right now. I needed to concentrate on the situation in front of me.

I forced my legs to move, but they felt stuck to the ground, or maybe I was simply too terrified to run.

“Wh-what do you want?” I asked, my voice low and shaky.

“Don’t be scared,” he said calmly. “I won’t harm you.”
