The journey to the Association grounds didn’t take long, thanks to our small group and our efficient pace. Lilly had made sure everything was prepped before we left, and Robin had discreetly included some of the former banished warriors among the guards. Smart move, considering how uncertain this trip already felt.

Still, all I wanted was to get this over with and return to Rex. Even my wolf had been restless the entire journey, his instincts clawing at the edges of my mind like a caged animal sensing something was wrong. But there wasn’t much I could do, yet.
